Chapter Eight of Enough by Design: Scarcity, Abundance and the Art of Living Well.

Abstract

The first act of this chapter is a blank week. Not a free one — a leader's week is never free — but a week in which nothing has yet been promised to anyone about scarcity, abundance or design. The previous six chapters have given that leader five tools, two cases and an argument. This chapter puts them in order. It is written for a person who runs something: a team, a department, a practice, a small firm. The timings suit a team of up to about thirty people. A larger organisation will need more weeks and the same order, and a section near the end says what changes with scale. A household will find its own version in chapter 11, which follows one family across a year; the sequence here is the workplace counterpart, and the two can be run side by side by anyone who lives in both.
