The Workbook

Abstract

Every tool in this book, gathered in one place, in the order a programme uses them. Each is reproduced as it appears at the end of its chapter, so that the workbook can be printed and kept on a desk or a wall without the chapters beside it. The chapter each comes from explains why it is built the way it is; read that chapter once before using a tool for the first time. The tools fall into three groups. The first six help an organisation or a household see itself and test its plans: the ledger, the test, the map, the inventory, the case sheet and the audit. The next three keep a programme honest: the stock card, the conversation card and the kitchen-table ledger. The last two put everything in sequence: the twelve-month programme sheet for an organisation that wants to run the whole year, and the ninety-day plan for one that wants to begin this quarter.
