Chapter Eight of The Economy That Keeps Becoming: Complexity Economics, Read as a Living System, for Leaders and Households.

Abstract

The chapters before this one gave the ideas, the critiques, two public cases and one composite. This chapter gives the sequence. It is written so that a leader can run the whole practice in an organisation over twenty-six weeks, with named roles, a decision at each stage, and the mistakes most likely to occur, in the order they tend to occur. Twenty-six weeks is this book's recommendation, not a finding from research. It is long enough for two twelve-week probe cycles and short enough to fit inside a planning year. A small organisation can compress it; a large one may run it first in one division. The sequence matters more than the timing. The manual assumes an organisation of between twenty and a few thousand people. For a household, chapter 11 gives a shorter version of the same sequence.
