Chapter Eight of The Gain Was Always Shared: Gainsharing from the Scanlon Mill to the Kitchen Table.

Abstract

The chapters before this one read gainsharing from four directions: its origin in a mill that asked first (Chapter 2), the five ways it fails (Chapter 3), the living-systems reading of it as a circulation (Chapter 4), and the published cases, figure by figure, with a composite packaging plant laid out month by month (Chapter 5). This chapter turns all of that into a sequence a leader can run. It is written for the person who will actually do the work: a plant manager, a hospital department head, the owner of a firm of eighty, the director of a public agency. It covers roughly the first eighteen months, in phases, with the weeks marked where the timing matters and left loose where it does not. For each phase it names who is involved, what is decided, and who decides it. It ends with a single page that holds the whole sequence.
